The bonfire. A glimpse into my working space

There still is a lot more work to be done on this one but I wanted to keep you updated with the stages it’s going through.
Here, I am using extra strong gel medium to even out the texture and “nooks and crannies” of each flame which is a work of patience that I’ll have to take in my stride especially after just recovering from the flue. This is the last project of my bonfire collection.

You can check the first ones in this blog by typing in the search sidebar Bonfire and scrolling down to check the four…

Please excuse any mistakes in this post as it is the first time I am not using my laptop to do it.

It’s a great relief to have worked out how to be able to post from anywhere.

Any suggestions or tips would be welcomed and truly helpful ☺

Fleeting moments of unadulterated silence

Fleeting moments

Fleeting moments

We have been given a late summer this year, yet my heart isn’t letting go of winter peels.
Joy struggles in the shadows, planning an escape that bounces off the walls of life. Of the mind.

Happiness is truly within.

Sun might enhance the rainbows of our soul, like contrast adding sharpness to a photo defining its contours but it isn’t the essential ingredient.

Yet, I inherently know delight lies in wait, lurks around the corner. A lifetime doesn’t vanish into oblivion.

I slow my pace in all good summer tradition, setting aside guilt (for imposing my will to those around me) living days moment by moment, listening to the pulses of nature, savouring every sound, celebrating the notion of nothingness surprised by the calmness that proceeds, appreciating the wonders of wildlife accompanying us wherever we are, on a daily basis gone unnoticed…

We are born to think motion is the only motor of survival, the only form of sanity but we forget to retire for a while from the hubbub to calm the nervous energy that comes with it.

We still have more than a month left. I know this might last no longer than the ink absorbed unto this page but I won’t forget so easily those fleeting moments of unadulterated silence & invite you to do the same 🙂

P.s
A very pleasant summer to you all!!

Music in raindrops…

Raindrops...

While waiting in the car on a rainy day, words came accompanied by the rhythm of nature…

Pit pat, pit pat raindrops there you
sat
On the borders of my soul, composing music
as you roll.
Comforting bruises new & old, rocking me out
of my mould.
Turning nuisance into charm, when the curtains
are drawn,
Keeping sunshine at bay, eluding the realities
of night & day…

Turbulences soon coming up in bigger version… & opening of new online shop at Saatchi Art

Turbulences

Proudly presenting…
Turbulences. 30/30cm 3.1/2 cm deep.
Forces of nature always fascinated me, tornadoes are one of them.
A demonstration of raw power par excellence.
Having said that I’d rather stick to my canvas than approaching one of them.

Please scroll down for close ups…
Notice the movement & metallic colors used to convey the electrifying energy emanating from
a stormy atmosphere.
Extra strong gel medium was used to produce the relief.

Having had a good feedback on this small version, my next project will be a much bigger one…

Thank you all so much for your continual support.
Your visits, likes & comments are most valuable to me!

I want to take this opportunity to announce the opening of my new online shop on Saatchi Art (I encountered too many technical difficulties on Etsy when they lately changed their rules)
Will keep you updated as soon as I have the time to feed my account with photos of my painting collections.

Used extra strong gel medium.

I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all my followers (& visitors) & wish you all very happy holidays.
As I might not be posting until 2016 so, best wishes for a very happy new year to all of you too!

This time I used extra strong gel medium differently so as to produce a high relief for wave movement.
It wasn’t easy but was very happy with the result.
Wishing all of you a great week 🙂

And with all the painting, there’ll always be some room for gardening!

Yes, I stop painting in order to treat myself to some gardening 🙂
I try to plant every year different vegetables so as not to find it monotonous. I enjoy wondering if I’ll be up for the challenge & like to see the difference stages between one plant & the other.
The garlic survived the winter (in a pot!) but came out tiny. The carrots were very small & the cucumbers are growing but die off before they are fully grown.
As it’s all on our balcony growing in pots with natural fertilizers as eggshells… I do it as a hobby I truly enjoy aware that the end result is not the goal.
Happy weekend to all of you!

Continuation of the “Zen collection” including close up of brush strokes, texture & tones.
As a big admirer of Monet, you’ll find his influence in some of my paintings.

Horses & sea… life’s canvas when words do not suffice

Horse art... ©copyright2014owpp

Horse art…
©copyright2014owpp

I have always been fascinated by three powerful forces of nature (among others but those are my favorite) horses, dolphins and the sea but as the second is inaccessible to me unless I go to these infamous shows, I content myself with the two which is why I have come up today with the best of my collection in the hope it’ll speak to you as much as it did to me when I picked up my lens.
It is what I do when trying to convey what words cannot, when they do not suffice…
But the ultimate in my eyes would be to immortalize the same moments with them galloping in the wild.
It is indeed a beautiful & soothing visualization exercise 😉

A important detail:
The photos were taken on the spur of a magical moment, there was no setting of scenery.

Which one do you elect as your favorite?

Preternatural lake

©copyright2014owpp

©copyright2014owpp

Just quickly posting an old picture dug out from our hard drive, taken in a time when Photoshop was still unknown to us so, the magical color you see of this high-altitude lake in the region of St-Moritz is real.
Passing with the train we were mesmerized by the difference in a regular lake and this one…
It had a lunar quality that we had never seen before.

I hope this shot captured its glow and the pull it had on us, endowing it on to you…

Best wishes for a wonderful summer!
