The coin you dropped in the basket of hope

together all the way ©copyright2013owpp

together all the way
©copyright2013owpp

This poem is to honor my younger sister’s noble, kind, constant presence in good and trying times.

Can I begin to scrape the surface
Will you ever know, realize the
Depth of your random acts?

I laud your selflessness the way
You foster the wounded heart lest
They disappear to the winds, unafraid
Of requital magnanimous to supremacy…

Weak words for strong disposition
I tried to pare but would need
To write a Te Deum to delineate
The making of thee

Stand tall, head high every
Moment of the day’s tide
Thank you will be furrowed in your
Bravery well after this tribulation

Time will not go by without a praise
And affection where lies the maxim
For humanity the ultimate paradigm
Thy art the reason for our creation

Please accept and welcome this humble
Verse as a token, as the treasured coin
You dropped in the basket of hope…

Children Full of Life (1 of 5) (the whole set 2/5 3/5 4/5 5/5)

I found this very inspiring video in… http://kindnessblog.com/2013/09/24/children-full-of-life/
and was so impressed I decided to include the whole set of 5.
Trust me on this one, it’s sheer quality time! I believe that if we all had had such a teacher, our lives
would’ve been very different as adults. Teachers have a huge impact on kids later on as they turn into
adults and he is one of the rare ones to have managed to do just that for the better reasons 🙂

This very inspiring story of this unbelievably heroic person who transformed adversity into victory & blessings. After seeing this, we understands first that happiness is not the one everybody is talking about and second that there is something much bigger to life (than our small preoccupations) 5.47 sec. well worth watching!

Temple Grandin – Thinking in Pictures

I don’t know why I didn’t think of posting before this brilliant excerpt of the film “Temple Grandin” which I was so impressed with. So, here it is!
It’s a story of victory… of a person turning their handicap to strength and soaring to heights very few achieve.
I couldn’t find the full film but I have found after much research this very high quality BBC documentary on T. Grandin’s life too.
Let me know if you were familiar with the film and your opinion on this documentary.

The Woman Who Thinks Like A Cow (Documentary)

Published on Jan 23, 2013
Dr Temple Grandin has a unique ability to understand the animal mind – and she’s convinced her skill is down to her autistic brain.

Temple believes she experiences life like an animal. Her emotions are much simpler than most people’s and she feels constantly anxious. It’s this struggle with overwhelming anxiety that led her to discover just how much she has in common with animals and, in particular, cows.

Using her ability to observe the world through an animal’s eye, she has been able to make an enormous impact on animal welfare. Her greatest achievement has been in the area of slaughterhouses – she has fundamentally changed the way animals are held and slaughtered.

Today she’s an associate professor of animal science, a best-selling author and the most famous autistic woman on the planet.

The reality of who we all are-1989 adjusted 19.4.2013

the runner

The reality of who we all are
————————————

Weary is the runner
Who tried it all.
Nothing that can wrench
A smile from her heart
Has she found

Look and search some more
To run away from
The confinement of her reign.
Spent to the bone
Society lifting her up to hegemony (1)

Weary is she, the runner
Who is a slave to her name
Starting off out of ardor
Never for the claim.
Loosing amity along the track

Collecting honorariums
Thrown at her as a redress
To satisfy her hunger
For fusion and empathy
What is given to the many

Oh! She does find it…
Between two laps of breath
Falling into the trap of poise
The opulence of comfort
The warmth of Kith & Kin

Only to be snatched back
To the constant drill.
Why me, does she ask
Were my choices a delusion
The erratum of my own doing (2)

Speculating she is the only
Stooge life has nominated
The quarry that has stumbled
On a boulder that was waft
On the path of earth

She vows to sleep on these
Wise discoveries with hope
Next day would bring
More reflection and ease
To the happy runner

She wants so much to embody
Still unaware of the cheers
And encouragement of peers
That have been forged by
That same mass hurled

At what became their biography
The journal of their gumption (3)
The teachings available on
The benches of what is solid
The reality of who we all are…

A runner.

The elegance of the giants- With French original text as “L’Ă©lĂ©gance des gĂ©ants”January 1992 adjusted January 2013

The elegance of the giants
——————————–

Lost in a nostalgic haze, melancholic…

He immerses in the self and isolates in a pool of
Thoughts, does not hear anymore the hubbub of words.
Flies far, very far in the imaginary of silence.
He lets the seconds, minutes, hours go by, burning

His fingers of a dazing summer, to seek refuge in a
World without sound or a music that would rock off
The brutal reality, the incessant needs of the loves,
The beings surrounding him…those preventing him

From drowning in his memories of felicity seemingly
So insignificant compared to the failures…victories
Passing unnoticed and defeat dressed in all splendor!
The first to be celebrated and the last quickly dismissed.

To go forth in life, victory after another fashioning
A chain of success and boundless serenity.
There, lies the secret of his wellbeing, his mirth.
The simplicity of the NOW.

It is the joy of the countercurrent
The noblesse of the fighter
The wisdom of the conqueror
And the elegance of the giants

L’élégance des géants
————————–
