A technical glitch becomes my muse.

This project isn’t new.
In fact I have long been busy with it and still have a long way to go…
There are still a million details to refine.

The whole idea was a sheer stroke of luck.
Our printer was nearly out of ink and the result was this amazingly hazy, blurry work of art…
On paper.

A technical glitch became my muse.
Our printer, despite itself turned what could’ve been a more or less ordinary idea into a punch of genius.
In an instant it had taken a whole new dimension.

Today, looking so very closely, I continue detecting, along the work (which often needs a magnifying glass) so much movement in what appeared at first to be a soft, romantic, vague looking image.

This “failed” print I notice, is a host to so many nuances, shadows, blurry, ghostly, ephemeral expressions…

And it lies in every stroke of this ongoing project.
It is very precise, nothing is left to chance.

Yet, it would have gone unnoticed to my eye, if I wasn’t so busy with its minutiae.

MY Venice

Venice the beautiful!

This photo is special to me.

It’s the less traveled “streets” of Venice.
The ones you can stop by and absorb the
Depth, its color, shadows and reflections…
In short all it has to offer to the knowing eye
The one who has already witnessed the Venice of
Sequins and glitter… curious of its authenticity
Thirsty for its poetic form shrouded in dreamy
quality.

Seeking solace in its troglodyte spots.

P.s
I am going to have to take time off for my family.
Exams are approaching & I need to be there & offer my support
we then go into summer holidays.
My apologies but I will be back hopefully with a whole bunch
of summer light in my photography 🙂

You cradle them in your fold

You invite the houses
From far, cradle them
In your fold, consoling
Their ephemeral shadows.

A candle flame 28.5.2013

Candle & poetry

A person very close to my heart came with a burnt out candle with no wick left and said to me, I know you take photos of everything so I am giving this to you. What appeared as simple words triggered a series of very inspirational photos and this soothing poem. At the end of all the fun, I played around with the melted wax and shaped it into a rose.
I have come to understand that putting an object under the scrutiny of a lens opens us up to beauty & magic, usually gone unheeded.

A candle flame
——————

Burning, burning in the night
A candle flame small and bright
Melting tears on its edge
Sculpting its way to lava swell

Flickering shadows,
Dancing off the pages,
Of a story Words create
Fighting for a Better place,
A role befitting the prodigy,
Their master Sired.
Cajoling, exhorting
It to permanence.

Burning, burning into dawn
A candle timid and drawn
Day tiptoeing around scattered roles
Around the maker of a life beginning

To unfold.
