Max Ehrmann

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Tracks Movie CLIP #1 (2013) – Mia Wasikowska Movie HD

I watched this last night & found myself captivated by the simplicity & ingenuity of this film.
You forget about the complications we have created in our lives & get down to the core which is
simply living in the now & getting on with it.
All in all, it’s so refreshing to the soul that I would recommend everyone to see it 🙂

As small as a buttonhole…

As I sat down on a bench in front of a lake bordered by trees, a plucked daisy
laying on the grass drew my attention and while the others went on having
their fun I picked it up & had mine experimenting for thirty whole
minutes the art of close-up photography. This flower as big as a buttonhole
pleasantly surprised me with its outcome 🙂
I have to explain that my camera is very basic so I’m always in awe at
how its limits can be stretched…

I had a hard time selecting, erased about five & a whole load on premises & ended with the grand collection
of seven I just could not part with but most importantly is which one do YOU like?

My potato experiment!

Potato life on Mars!

Do you remember the time I had written a humoristic poem on the weird sprouted potatoes I had forgotten in my balcony for two months? (I still have to work on my photography category & insert the photos back in!) well, my potato plant experiment finally ended a few weeks ago & I decided to share the happiness & pride in my labor with you today… bear in mind that it was grown in a pot, I “babysat” it indoors once the cold settled in and not even organic fertilizers were used all along 🙂

It was more for the fun than the quantity gained (which wasn’t much) my grandchildren & I had a ball of a time guessing… creating suspense & wondering if anything had come out of it, for all we knew there could’ve been nothing under! The thrill of the surprise was one of these special moments we cherish deep inside for a long time…

Nature’s gems

A gem found in the rain
©copyright2013owpp

I bequeath myself to the storms,
To the rain I love, falling gently
Or brutally unto the Oceans marking
Their way, digging tears into the
Grain of shores… bringing out the
Gems of yonder, tempting them out
Of their daily modicum of privacy
And fashioning as a jest, a grand
Exit by beaming scintillae betwixt
Feral clouds thereupon supplanting
Yestereve’s majestic sunset.
