Trek evolution has found its niche

Trek evolution

Trek evolution

This painting was started in 2012 which I am relieved to say I have finished! I am very proud of it for the very reason that it was my work and idea from scratch.
You can check the process here https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/?s=trek+evolution

The screws are life’s question marks, we are full of them… we are born with two principal ones. Will I get enough food and will I get enough sleep and as we go further we accumulate the questioning (which along the way gets smaller because answered through searching in life’s trek, the smaller ones get sometimes linked or shaped in hearts) it eventually gets fewer, sparser, lighter which is why I put in round natural stones representing bubbles… the airiness, the wellbeing one experiences with aging and serenity.
At the extreme corner there are no more questions, no bubbles (bubbles are to underline the contrast, the presence of… the other extreme) I wanted the purity of the white canvas to speak for a million words and represent the plenitude one feels with maturity and age.
The splashes of satin paint are faithful to Jackson Pollock’s methods which I’m very much pulled toward and represents the life force and energy.

“In a nutshell life is fun” project revealed!

“In a nutshell life is fun” finally revealed!

The 12th of February I wrote in this post that I was busy with a new project & posted a photo with it see…
https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/?s=busy+with+new+project well, it actually started in February 2014!
Sometimes an idea begins with a spark & mine was cracking nuts… observing how nature is perfect, feeling there was something to the line, folds, cracks & even fresh mold from the ones rotting… yes, I thought, life’s journey is all that, the good & the not so…

That was long before “Life’s cobblestones” was born, actually that one came as an accident 🙂 see… https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/?s=life%27s+cobblestones
I was preparing the canvas with a thick white coat of paint for this project but it wasn’t subtle enough & on the advice of my mentor, let it rest… to make a long story short, one thing led to another & to my surprise “Life’s cobblestones” matured into completion as a result of the “In a nutshell” project!
“Evolution trek” https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/?s=evolution+trek & “Odyssey” https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/?s=odyssey are all part of a collection of projects on the same theme, the one of life’s journey.
Note in the close ups (for you to be able to see the details) the half nutshells, the colours, the ones shining but authentic in their original “dressing”, the whole hazelnuts small & shining (see in full photo) the beauty of the moldy ones, the specks of nutshell residue, the white one at the far right corner… they all are respectful to the idea of life’s journey.
You are the observer free to use your own interpretation!

I’ll be posting here, the whole set of photos following the long process, step by step till its completion, I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Click on photo to enlarge please. All orders are more than welcome! Just let me know in a comment if you are interested in further details.

My new painting! Les pavés de la vie – Life’s cobblestones.

Les pavés de la vie ©copyright2015owpp

Les pavés de la vie
©copyright2015owpp

This painting is very close to my heart, it belongs to the Theme I’m working on, of life & it’s journey. I’m sure you remember Evolution trek (I have posted previously) Odyssey is another.
Les pavés de la vie represents life’s course. Notice the nuance in texture, colour, cracks & shapes of the cobblestones & interpret it in your own personal experience of life and growth along the way…
I used about three liters of paint for the under layer & around two kilos of plaster for the cobblestones which makes it quite a heavy canvas!
Before hanging it, in order to prevent it from falling & breaking, I had to make sure the hooks were well placed by drilling proper holes in the wall.
I am posting here all the painting’s stages.
Let me know.
I truly enjoyed your comments from last post 🙂
Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement & likes!

All the way up!

Yes! All the way up & free ©copyright2014owpp

Yes! All the way up & free
©copyright2014owpp

I am liberated.

Liberation occurs when we are afraid no more of either way we turn out to be, I guess this is what we call letting go.

Previously I have lived in fear of putting on weight & as a consequence resemble my father, loose some & look like my mother, fluctuating between the two for a lifetime perpetually frustrated, seeing their worst in me, never understanding that I was taken away the ability to notice the other side of their personality, that is…

Until today.

When I woke up to a dream of my mother’s lullabies in my ears remembering & realizing that even though she swore she croaked & rattled like rusty pots & pans, she never gave up the pleasures of educating her children in a sing-song voice.
In his own creative way, my father taught us self-reliance, patience & how to spend quality time with his closest.
He taught us things a child never forgets such as, how to roast flour as a snack, design our own sweets from scratch, repair & build things out of nothing.

Pain & anger had obliterated those precious moments rending them insignificant, amplifying & bringing into focus the times of weakness which felt strongly like betrayal.

I am not minimizing the hurt caused nor justifying circumstances which could have been dealt with tolerance, patience, empathy & understanding… all I am saying is that today I am using my lens to magnify what appeared meaningless & putting in the back-burner the heartaches.

There is a time to sow & a time to reap.
Now is the time to appreciate what did go right.
Nothing is stopping me from going all the way up…

No more strings attached…
Free!

This is my journey & I believe it is yours too, for we have traveled a long way in two years.

I thank you for that 🙂

Odyssey finally finished!

Odyssey is finally finished!
©copyright2014owpp

Having restored the photos back in this blog I decided to take back the painting neglected (for a year+) to writing. I’m really happy to show off today the results of what I had started in 2012!! ( under post “Odyssey”) I’ll include photos from the 1st sketch onward.

This painting was based on a picture I saw & fell in love with…the clean lines, nuances of black, blue, white & the panoramic-like view.
I added my own interpretation, it’s one of a collection I started with Trek evolution, see…
https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/2013/12/01/evolutions-trek-painting-finally-finished/

In the future a few will be following in that Theme.

The four men represent us on our life journey (notice the lines on their back expressing laps of time) the 1st is bent & struggling under the weight of a big question mark the 2nd is slightly straighter with a smaller one in front of him, the 3rd is already much straighter with a tiny question at his feet & the fourth has none, stands straight, there’s light shining from the moon, no more questions…

All is flat peaceful & serene.

Through the seasons of life

crunching under the burden... ©copyright2013owpp

crunching under the burden…
©copyright2013owpp

Leaving early in the morn
Your heart heavy yet light
With hope…

You travel the void of
Subways and commuters,
Walk through dead leaves
Crunching under the burden
Imposed…

Greeted by a lambent
Welcome, a twinkle thick
With enthusiasm you whisper
a small prayer for the tiny
Warm hand

Fitting trustingly yours,
Unaware of the odyssey in
Its genesis unconcerned
About the accessories…
A prerequisite

For endurance as he walks
through the seasons of life
The arteries…

Of his universe

Supermum… An old classic and a good laugh :)

Lead.Learn.Live posted this tremendous video for mother’s day. We had such a good laugh at it
That I couldn’t resist to post it and bring out the humoristic side in the role
of all mothers!
Enjoy 🙂

Sweet and sour, bonus of the hour. 9th of April 2013

Sweet and sour, bonus of the hour
————————————

Where have you gone
Where are the birdsongs
The spume and waves
Buckets and spades

Dried mouth
Crackled earth and drought
Speak to me
I want to see

Create out of vagary (1)
Tears, diamonds to be
Fatigue…strength unlaced
Poems, cascading grace

Suffering… laughter down the alley
All I want as an identity
Is to breathe through that song
Once you have gone

Crash with the waves
Sleep with buckets and spades
Fly where rivers speak
Where wind plays music

Where dawn breaks
On mountain peaks
And sun sets
Out of jealousy

Betrayed by night
Teased out of sight
What nonsense do I speak
When words glide into me!

Needs a lot of polishing
To make this poem neat
Where have you gone
Just spoke to me

Come! Haunt my dreams
I need you to be
Not understand
Life’s intricacies

Sweet and sour
Bonus of the hour

It is as perfect as can be!

He is the eyes in which we all can see
———————————————-

His eyes witnessed Dante’s Inferno
His smile, a quiver of long absence and pity
He glances around at all the novelties
His demeanor, shy and hesitant, left years dormant

Fear, beauty, courage, endurance,
All etched in his grand personality
His soul, pure and unblemished
As the plumage of a white dove.

Assigned to a role never played or wanted
He shines as the reflection of the sun
On a first winters cape.
Having conquered adversity and polished his ipseity (1)

He is the son of all mothers
The hero of all nations
Divinity disguised in humanity
The one they want to embrace and protect

Sing and celebrate in hymns
He is grace, distinction and integrity
All chiseled in one.
The potential you could seek

If you stretched out, high up
And reached the peak
He is the eyes in which

We all can see!
