I saw today this brilliant documentary of the famous Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer on the advise of a painter on Instagram j.hajesart who is in the middle of a very audacious project… a copy of this master which is progressing brilliantly.
I became an admirer of Vermeer after I saw the movie “Girl with the pearl earring” see the post on the drawing I made in soft pastels… https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/2012/11/03/the-girl-with-the-pearl-2007/ & loved to get more info on the life & works of this unequaled artist.
I’m going to see tonight as well “Tim’s Vermeer”.
This one is 59 mn long & I enjoyed every second of it.
It is very heavy to post on my blog as it takes much space but I made an exception for this time 🙂
I hope you’ll like it!

First broadcast: 2003.
Episode 2/3 Johannes Vermeer is one of our favourite painters, with his Girl with a Pearl Earring now deemed the ‘Mona Lisa of the North’. But little is known about his life and for almost two centuries he was lost to obscurity.
Andrew Graham-Dixon, travelling to Vermeer’s hometown of Delft and a dramatic Dutch landscape of huge skies and windmills, embarks on a detective trail to uncover the life of a genius in hiding.
Renowned for painting calm and beautiful interiors, the real life of Vermeer was marred by crime and violence. His life was a bid to escape the privations of his family and yet even a glamorous marriage and artistic success failed to save him from the fate he dreaded more than any other.

Being a horse lover I found myself of late looking at many YouTube videos, on the different paths taken, to keep them as a hobby, train them as a job & have ended up with this one which I immediately connected with & could relate to from the first words pronounced…
It is a precious documentary on a personal journey of self & horse behavior…
On horse language & on how to bring out a maximum from a horse, the gentle way.
It is an hour long but oh so worth it if your interest lies in that direction 🙂
Wishing you a joyful summer!
All my apologies for not being able to like or comment but I need to focus on my family & spend quality time with them during summer time.

…And that is why we preserve it with all our might 🙂
This is a documentary worth persevering till the end, it is relaxing, hopeful, informative it shows us nature as interconnected. A unique network system, each one relying upon the other for its survival.
It teaches us the miracle of life in all forms, its delicate balance, the necessity & importance for every seemingly insignificant role played (by the word we have started to take too much for granted having heard it so often pronounced) in a perfectly designed Eco-system.
You will not regret watching it 🙂

So, this is the video I had promised to post, they call it a documentary, so be it. ( A few years back I had found the biography on you tube )
It is long but whoever is a fan of his, will enjoy every extra detail he/she can get. You can always skip the bits you don’t have time to see, but personally, I’m going to take a time in the evening, when all is quiet and peaceful, and sink into this surreal dimension!
Let me know how it went for you.
