Run run dark beauty…

horses-sketch

This poem is dedicated to all those who have overcome adversity & climbed higher than humanly possible.
The photo is the sketch of a project I am busy with. Horses are my passion & I might have gotten stuck with this longer than I should for fear of not giving justice to this magnificent animal & the tremendous power exuding from it.
Keep warm! Hope you enjoy the poem. Feedback is always very welcome 🙂

Run run my race horse over the fences, hedges & highest walls, take leaps,
skip over rivers, mane blowing in the winds, undeterred… nothing stopping you.

Run run my stallion, spread the energy, black shining coat glistening under the effort
of raw power. Long gone are your days of uncertainty, battles over frail beginnings.

Run run dark beauty, never be afraid of winning, fly & never turn back, you were a
conqueror at your first faltering steps…

Run run my baby, I will celebrate your victories, as close to my heart,
as bright as the stars, as magical as your existence.

Sleep sleep my foal you’ve earned the miracle of tomorrow!

Celebrating the beginning of 2017 with a new painting… The Hand tree.

hand tree 2017

125/75 cm.
The idea is to have the hand prints of your children or grandchildren professionally made.
The decor is suited to the beautiful world a child should find himself in.
Colorful and surrounded by nature.
Some of the materials I used are recycled products I plan for my art.
Each hand hangs off a cloud.
On the left corner, you’ll notice a clothes line with pegs attached & two red strings from which twin baby hands might hang from…
Please scroll down for close ups, they will show you more details.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of my followers and visitors for the likes comments and support since the opening of this account.
P.s
My excuses for the reflection on the photos, I find it always an issue with darker backgrounds.

Fleeting moments of unadulterated silence

Fleeting moments

Fleeting moments

We have been given a late summer this year, yet my heart isn’t letting go of winter peels.
Joy struggles in the shadows, planning an escape that bounces off the walls of life. Of the mind.

Happiness is truly within.

Sun might enhance the rainbows of our soul, like contrast adding sharpness to a photo defining its contours but it isn’t the essential ingredient.

Yet, I inherently know delight lies in wait, lurks around the corner. A lifetime doesn’t vanish into oblivion.

I slow my pace in all good summer tradition, setting aside guilt (for imposing my will to those around me) living days moment by moment, listening to the pulses of nature, savouring every sound, celebrating the notion of nothingness surprised by the calmness that proceeds, appreciating the wonders of wildlife accompanying us wherever we are, on a daily basis gone unnoticed…

We are born to think motion is the only motor of survival, the only form of sanity but we forget to retire for a while from the hubbub to calm the nervous energy that comes with it.

We still have more than a month left. I know this might last no longer than the ink absorbed unto this page but I won’t forget so easily those fleeting moments of unadulterated silence & invite you to do the same 🙂

P.s
A very pleasant summer to you all!!

Music in raindrops…

Raindrops...

While waiting in the car on a rainy day, words came accompanied by the rhythm of nature…

Pit pat, pit pat raindrops there you
sat
On the borders of my soul, composing music
as you roll.
Comforting bruises new & old, rocking me out
of my mould.
Turning nuisance into charm, when the curtains
are drawn,
Keeping sunshine at bay, eluding the realities
of night & day…

And I never noticed you had gone…

may 2016

Most of the times nowadays, I use my canvas as my paper,
My brush as my pen & immerse myself in the world of color,
As a swimmer would dive, yearning for more as soon
As he comes up for breath.

But occasionally, as in this moment, I realize old habits die hard.
Finding myself in the need to search & select thoughts, ponder
On word choices, the turn of a phrase, immortalizing the beauty
Or sadness of the second presenting itself to me, as a gift of life.

Painting is my life, it’s the oxygen I need to sustain my soul
But writing is my life-long-friend.

So old, comfortable, is the only word necessary to describe it.
It’ll knock on my door & step in unannounced, take its place
In that old armchair, so worn one can notice patches where the
Weaving is so loose it holds by the tenacity of the obstinate,
the unyielding…

It sits as if it had never left, happy to mould back into the shapes,
as one. And me, never noticing it had gone.

Turbulences soon coming up in bigger version… & opening of new online shop at Saatchi Art

Turbulences

Proudly presenting…
Turbulences. 30/30cm 3.1/2 cm deep.
Forces of nature always fascinated me, tornadoes are one of them.
A demonstration of raw power par excellence.
Having said that I’d rather stick to my canvas than approaching one of them.

Please scroll down for close ups…
Notice the movement & metallic colors used to convey the electrifying energy emanating from
a stormy atmosphere.
Extra strong gel medium was used to produce the relief.

Having had a good feedback on this small version, my next project will be a much bigger one…

Thank you all so much for your continual support.
Your visits, likes & comments are most valuable to me!

I want to take this opportunity to announce the opening of my new online shop on Saatchi Art (I encountered too many technical difficulties on Etsy when they lately changed their rules)
Will keep you updated as soon as I have the time to feed my account with photos of my painting collections.

This time I used extra strong gel medium differently so as to produce a high relief for wave movement.
It wasn’t easy but was very happy with the result.
Wishing all of you a great week 🙂

In a nutshell you write your own script

In a nutshell You write you own script

In a nutshell You write you own script

In a nutshell you write your own script.
This is a project very close to my heart and one busy simmering, maturing and elaborated to its last detail since about 2013.
The title says it all. The script on the nutshells were very carefully selected after long research. These came from very rare newspapers focusing on the positive changes in our environment.
The position of the nutshells represents life’s journey, each one’s path.
In the next posts you will get a chance at seeing the words close up. The last shell is about a seventy year old man climbing a mountain top.
The pieces on the sides are the unsuccessful scripts we have written and discarded as a writer does.
I am familiar with that concept… I have been writing since a young age.
(You can check my writing & poem category if you are interested).
We chose the music we play, the weather of the day, our kids schools and their success as a result of right choices made… You will all find it on this canvas.
The drip painting representing life’s force will always be faithful to the Jackson Pollock’s method that had and still has a tremendous influence on the works I display.
Note the half nutshell too… the close up of old, tired, tossed, undesired and repetitive scripts some whitened over…the (accidental) T shape.
You are the observer, free to use and enjoy the interpretation of your own experiences and perspective.

Where there is absence of noise, silence goes unappreciated.

16.5.2014 (2)-a-1-

Those words popped into my mind this morning when silence was as thick as knee deep snow & as deafening as nature before a tsunami.
No-thing interrupted its vacuousness. There was no possible way of measuring it. That is when I realised that whenever I wrote about the quietude peaceful spots provide us with, it involved a symphony with brief in-betweens.
The sea being among my favourites, roars many seasons a year. Intervals minimal in comparison with its rambunctious charm.
I remembered the poem & essay I had written a while back, on silence too.
All involved a lot of noise.
The poem was literally crackling with outdoor’s natural interruptions & “Fiat Silentium” was about distant noises magnifying the cocoon of bliss I had found myself in.
Silence on its own is dead whereas accompanied becomes an entity. Each & everything on this planet comes chaperoned, hence, the expression “it’s a package deal”. People, objects, circumstances, emotions… I haven’t yet seen anything shining without a contrast or a system of support sustaining its light.
Silence goes very far where noise is concerned… 😉

Have a great noisy week!
