A technical glitch becomes my muse.

This project isn’t new.
In fact I have long been busy with it and still have a long way to go…
There are still a million details to refine.

The whole idea was a sheer stroke of luck.
Our printer was nearly out of ink and the result was this amazingly hazy, blurry work of art…
On paper.

A technical glitch became my muse.
Our printer, despite itself turned what could’ve been a more or less ordinary idea into a punch of genius.
In an instant it had taken a whole new dimension.

Today, looking so very closely, I continue detecting, along the work (which often needs a magnifying glass) so much movement in what appeared at first to be a soft, romantic, vague looking image.

This “failed” print I notice, is a host to so many nuances, shadows, blurry, ghostly, ephemeral expressions…

And it lies in every stroke of this ongoing project.
It is very precise, nothing is left to chance.

Yet, it would have gone unnoticed to my eye, if I wasn’t so busy with its minutiae.

Loch na Lathaich in abstract

Hi everyone! This is today’s work,

one of my new projects.
A night shot with slow shutter speed on Loch na Lathaich Isle of Mull that came out so nice it was perfect for abstract work.
As a second layer it still has a long way to go.

Forgive my absence.
Lately I have been having computer issues and couldn’t keep you updated with my work, the exhibition, my photography…
But I promise to start posting again as soon as it’s all fixed.
Only then will I feel entitled to fully celebrate this milestone 🙂

An invitation to the opening of my exhibition in Leiden Netherlands

I am delighted to announce to all my faithful followers and visitors of the WordPress community the opening of my solo exhibition in Leiden Netherlands at the gallery Zône. Nieuwestraat 17b.
Come along with family and friends and discover my works for the first time, the entrance is free and there will be beverages and snacks for the occasion.
The opening will be on the 2nd of July from 2pm to 4pm and the paintings will be exposed during the whole month of July.
Leiden is a charming Dutch touristic city that you can put on your list for this summer.
To quote the first two paragraphs of Wikipedia…
Leiden (/ˈlaɪdən/; Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɛi̯.də(n)] (About this sound listen); in English and archaic Dutch also Leyden) is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. The municipality of Leiden has a population of 122,915, but the city forms one densely connected agglomeration with its suburbs Oegstgeest, Leiderdorp, Voorschoten and Zoeterwoude with 206,647 inhabitants. The Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) further includes Katwijk in the agglomeration which makes the total population of the Leiden urban agglomeration 270,879, and in the larger Leiden urban area also Teylingen, Noordwijk, and Noordwijkerhout are included with in total 348,868 inhabitants. Leiden is located on the Oude Rijn, at a distance of some 20 kilometres (12 miles) from The Hague to its south and some 40 km (25 mi) from Amsterdam to its north. The recreational area of the Kaag Lakes (Kagerplassen) lies just to the northeast of Leiden.
A university city since 1575, Leiden houses Leiden University, the oldest university of the Netherlands, and Leiden University Medical Center. Leiden is a city with a rich cultural heritage, not only in science, but also in the arts. One of the world’s most famous painters, Rembrandt, was born and educated in Leiden. Other famous Leiden painters include Lucas van Leyden, Jan van Goyen and Jan van Steen. The city has been one of Europe’s most prominent scientific centres for more than four centuries. Modern scientific medical research and teaching started in the early 18th century in Leiden with Boerhaave. Many important scientific discoveries have been made here, giving rise to Leiden’s motto: ‘City of Discoveries’.
Leiden University is one of Europe’s top universities, it boasts thirteen Nobel Prize winners, it is a member of the League of European Research Universities and positioned highly in all international academic rankings. It is twinned with Oxford, the location of the United Kingdom’s oldest university. Leiden University and Leiden University of Applied Sciences (Leidse Hogeschool) together have around 35,000 students. Leiden is a typical university city, university buildings are scattered throughout the city and the many students from all over the world give the city a bustling, vivid and international atmosphere.

The happy tree II .

Made with Square InstaPic

The birth of this painting was magical, just as the first Happy tree of this collection. It reflects the joys of our daily routine which usually go unnoticed.
It is called Happy to bring trees to our notice & appreciation.
I guess you can call it a work of gratitude.
Trees make life beautiful, it’s alive, it grows, summer it gives shade, winter shelter from winds & storms, it (sometimes) nourishes, provides wood for all kind of purposes, gives oxygen, lightens our hearts in every aspect, decorates our outdoors, indoors, minds & souls, goes with the cycle of seasons a symbol of rebirth…
This is a reminder that We are lucky to be surrounded by them day in day out!

Turbulences soon coming up in bigger version… & opening of new online shop at Saatchi Art

Turbulences

Proudly presenting…
Turbulences. 30/30cm 3.1/2 cm deep.
Forces of nature always fascinated me, tornadoes are one of them.
A demonstration of raw power par excellence.
Having said that I’d rather stick to my canvas than approaching one of them.

Please scroll down for close ups…
Notice the movement & metallic colors used to convey the electrifying energy emanating from
a stormy atmosphere.
Extra strong gel medium was used to produce the relief.

Having had a good feedback on this small version, my next project will be a much bigger one…

Thank you all so much for your continual support.
Your visits, likes & comments are most valuable to me!

I want to take this opportunity to announce the opening of my new online shop on Saatchi Art (I encountered too many technical difficulties on Etsy when they lately changed their rules)
Will keep you updated as soon as I have the time to feed my account with photos of my painting collections.

In a nutshell you write your own script

In a nutshell You write you own script

In a nutshell You write you own script

In a nutshell you write your own script.
This is a project very close to my heart and one busy simmering, maturing and elaborated to its last detail since about 2013.
The title says it all. The script on the nutshells were very carefully selected after long research. These came from very rare newspapers focusing on the positive changes in our environment.
The position of the nutshells represents life’s journey, each one’s path.
In the next posts you will get a chance at seeing the words close up. The last shell is about a seventy year old man climbing a mountain top.
The pieces on the sides are the unsuccessful scripts we have written and discarded as a writer does.
I am familiar with that concept… I have been writing since a young age.
(You can check my writing & poem category if you are interested).
We chose the music we play, the weather of the day, our kids schools and their success as a result of right choices made… You will all find it on this canvas.
The drip painting representing life’s force will always be faithful to the Jackson Pollock’s method that had and still has a tremendous influence on the works I display.
Note the half nutshell too… the close up of old, tired, tossed, undesired and repetitive scripts some whitened over…the (accidental) T shape.
You are the observer, free to use and enjoy the interpretation of your own experiences and perspective.

Sunset after storm.

Sunset big projet 2nd under layer end oct.2015-a-1-

A new and one of the biggest project I ever was busy with.
This is only a third layer.
A sunset I experienced a while back when least expected.
The day was a stormy one from the word go, when it approached to its end I had given up on any flamboyant ending, then it took me by complete surprise.
Which shows that things can turn for the better at any moment… Not always does it go with logic.

The sun tree… my latest addition to the Zen tree collection.

28.7.2015The sun tree of the tree collection-1-

Hi everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your holidays.

This is my latest work inspired by Van Gogh’s.
It’s a heavy painting with extreme relief work produced by a extra heavy gel medium I’ve discovered lately & really enjoy working with!

Best wishes for a warm & restful 2nd half of August 🙂

P.s I would like to give a big thank you to Theecograndma.com for helping me out with signing my works, something I wished to do for quite a while but every information I got from good willing followers led me to a standstill.
There was an amazing feeling of elation, gratification & the urge to shout Eureka to all those around me 🙂

This is the continuation of an abstract collection called “the Zen tree collection”
