Mother/newborn finished!

Mother/newborn

Finally polished the last details of this painting belonging to the mother/newborn collection I am busy with.

A realistic painting I sketched in 2012 and picked back up in 2015.
The energy between mother and newborn was a priority (as a big admirer of Johannes Vermeer) the display of light and shadow too,
a major role in the atmosphere in my opinion.
Abstracts are amazing projects but I thoroughly enjoy working at detailed ones too.
The lioness is one of them, scroll all the way down to the first post to see.
Mastering many different techniques is a very enriching experience.
It contributes vastly to the quality of abstract works too…

And I never noticed you had gone…

may 2016

Most of the times nowadays, I use my canvas as my paper,
My brush as my pen & immerse myself in the world of color,
As a swimmer would dive, yearning for more as soon
As he comes up for breath.

But occasionally, as in this moment, I realize old habits die hard.
Finding myself in the need to search & select thoughts, ponder
On word choices, the turn of a phrase, immortalizing the beauty
Or sadness of the second presenting itself to me, as a gift of life.

Painting is my life, it’s the oxygen I need to sustain my soul
But writing is my life-long-friend.

So old, comfortable, is the only word necessary to describe it.
It’ll knock on my door & step in unannounced, take its place
In that old armchair, so worn one can notice patches where the
Weaving is so loose it holds by the tenacity of the obstinate,
the unyielding…

It sits as if it had never left, happy to mould back into the shapes,
as one. And me, never noticing it had gone.

Turbulences soon coming up in bigger version… & opening of new online shop at Saatchi Art

Turbulences

Proudly presenting…
Turbulences. 30/30cm 3.1/2 cm deep.
Forces of nature always fascinated me, tornadoes are one of them.
A demonstration of raw power par excellence.
Having said that I’d rather stick to my canvas than approaching one of them.

Please scroll down for close ups…
Notice the movement & metallic colors used to convey the electrifying energy emanating from
a stormy atmosphere.
Extra strong gel medium was used to produce the relief.

Having had a good feedback on this small version, my next project will be a much bigger one…

Thank you all so much for your continual support.
Your visits, likes & comments are most valuable to me!

I want to take this opportunity to announce the opening of my new online shop on Saatchi Art (I encountered too many technical difficulties on Etsy when they lately changed their rules)
Will keep you updated as soon as I have the time to feed my account with photos of my painting collections.
