Touching the Void Official Trailer #1 – Nicholas Aaron Movie (2003) HD

This Film is in no way a eerie or creepy movie which is what I thought originally & debated whether I should waste my time scaring myself instead of relaxing to a more positive story, it therefore took me a few weeks to be in a curious mood enough to watch it.
Well, I was in for a surprise.
I agree, you have to be in a specific mood & not everyone may like the settings which oscillates between a movie & documentary but oh! so enriching!
You come out of it understanding what is vital for physical as much as for mental survival, it broaches the moral debates of crucial decisions in desperate times & there are bound to be conflicting opinions there but all in all if you want to be jolted from your every day routine & the complacency, torpor or maybe frustration that goes with it… this is your film.
Most of all even though he came so close to death, his ordeal didn’t stop him picking himself back up, get on with his life & going further with what he enjoyed most… climbing!
Most, myself included would have blocked totally at the fear of it happening again, that I found was a powerful message.
You can follow his next expedition in “The beckoning silence” on You Tube.
The first full length film “Touching the void” is on YouTube but I didn’t want to use up space on my blog so I thought the trailer will be enough to spur you into action 🙂
Let me know what impressions it left on you.
Have a lovely weekend!

My pen & paper… my Aeneas

After a long absence I take you between my thumb & index
Hoping to continue an interrupted alliance.
In doubtful moments you call, I long…

Words, shapes, phrases, impressions, perceptions, all dance
To my attention but life hollers, its pulse goes on beating,
Its stream resumes its course then, I forget…

I adapt… Until your next signal.

I remember the bond, the relief, sincerity & trust…
Treating you as a living might be ridiculed, to me you are
Most alive, available around the world,

Pristine & unwrinkled you absorb my unpublished, my Arcanum. (1)
Your condition, that I come along provided with ink & scratch
The cavities of my brain.

I will always be thirsty for more so, after a long or short lapse
Count me among your unwavering, your fidus Achates. (2)
My pen & paper, my Aeneas. (3)

P.S This poem was written far back in 1991 then I adjusted it in 2013 & today I readjusted it again!
hope you’ll like it 🙂

(1) Arcanum

A deep secret, a mystery

(2) Fidus Achates

A faithful friend or companion

(3) Aeneas

n. Greek & Roman Mythology
The Trojan hero of Virgil’s epic poem, the Aeneid, and son of Anchises and Aphrodite. He escaped the sack of Troy and wandered for seven years before settling in Italy.

Lion Vs Mongoose: Mongoose Fends Off Four Lions

I just received this video thinking it’ll be the typical nature-sweet-story but found myself laughing all the way through amazed at the gall of this Mongoose going after not one lion who could kill her with the blink of an eye but four… which shows that it’s not the size that counts as much as the determination & she has it in bucket load!
There’s a lot we can learn from animal-behavior & I have the feeling that even though information is so much more available today we only have seen a fraction of it.
Just thought it would be a nice way to start off your week 🙂

Lion Vs Mongoose: Mongoose Fends Off Four Lions

Four lions were left with their tails between their legs when a mongoose bravely took on the predators. Despite being under two feet tall, the aggressive mongoose growled at the felines and even bit one on the nose. The shocking fight, which was photographed in 2011 but has just been released, began in the Masaai Mara National Park, Kenya, when photographer Jerome Guillaumot came across four young lions surrounding the terrified marsh mongoose. The lions chased the mongoose into a hole in the ground but the small animal reemerged to fight the predators once again before running for cover. All the way up!

Yes! All the way up & free
©copyright2014owpp

I am liberated.

Liberation occurs when we are afraid no more of either way we turn out to be, I guess this is what we call letting go.

Previously I have lived in fear of putting on weight & as a consequence resemble my father, loose some & look like my mother, fluctuating between the two for a lifetime perpetually frustrated, seeing their worst in me, never understanding that I was taken away the ability to notice the other side of their personality, that is…

Until today.

When I woke up to a dream of my mother’s lullabies in my ears remembering & realizing that even though she swore she croaked & rattled like rusty pots & pans, she never gave up the pleasures of educating her children in a sing-song voice.
In his own creative way, my father taught us self-reliance, patience & how to spend quality time with his closest.
He taught us things a child never forgets such as, how to roast flour as a snack, design our own sweets from scratch, repair & build things out of nothing.

Pain & anger had obliterated those precious moments rending them insignificant, amplifying & bringing into focus the times of weakness which felt strongly like betrayal.

I am not minimizing the hurt caused nor justifying circumstances which could have been dealt with tolerance, patience, empathy & understanding… all I am saying is that today I am using my lens to magnify what appeared meaningless & putting in the back-burner the heartaches.

There is a time to sow & a time to reap.
Now is the time to appreciate what did go right.
Nothing is stopping me from going all the way up…

No more strings attached…
Free!

This is my journey & I believe it is yours too, for we have traveled a long way in two years.

I thank you for that 🙂

Horses & sea… life’s canvas when words do not suffice

Horse art…

I have always been fascinated by three powerful forces of nature (among others but those are my favorite) horses, dolphins and the sea but as the second is inaccessible to me unless I go to these infamous shows, I content myself with the two which is why I have come up today with the best of my collection in the hope it’ll speak to you as much as it did to me when I picked up my lens.
It is what I do when trying to convey what words cannot, when they do not suffice…
But the ultimate in my eyes would be to immortalize the same moments with them galloping in the wild.
It is indeed a beautiful & soothing visualization exercise 😉

A important detail:
The photos were taken on the spur of a magical moment, there was no setting of scenery.

Which one do you elect as your favorite?

Happy Anniversary!

You registered on WordPress.com 2 years ago!

Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging!

This is what I found in my post today.
I had forgotten the exact date but am very grateful for being given the opportunity to thank first my closest who helped me with my first very-hesitant-baby steps into WordPress, patiently putting up with my incessant questioning & secondly all my amazing followers which have amounted to the staggering number of 706!
Something I had never dreamed of 🙂

Your fidelity & constant positive feedback amazes & encourages me every day anew.
To celebrate this milestone & my gratitude, I offer you this photo which is a personal flower arrangement dating from the cold month of February with a rose from a bouquet I had received & leaves I had found on a stroll lying on the ground with such striking colors I couldn’t resist bringing them back home in the hope they would inspire me into creativity which is what happened!

Once again, thank you!

Wriggling vegetable worm?

Vegetable worm?

As we were taking a stroll in a park on a wonderfully peaceful rainy day where scent, mist & hue mingle, I came across this weird looking leaf which appeared to be on the move 😉
I took a few with different shapes, colors & composed a setting nearby to try & bring out to the eyes of my viewers, its tones & curves.
Anyone out there with a name for this vegetable-worm?
