It is hard to sustain enthusiasm when speaking of Burano
A flood of memories inundate everyday realities…
Preferring to fly back in time & resuscitate the
Mirage of a second, an hour or a day rather
Than seeing our rainbows after the storm or
Lift our gaze to the stars in our skies…
You gather from these few lines the wonderful time we had in Burano a while back, a village of fishermen & laces, which was enhanced by the encounter of a renowned painted Carlo Memo that inspired me to describe this unique day through poetry.

Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy; like Venice itself, it could more correctly be called an archipelago of four islands linked by bridges. It is situated near Torcello at the northern end of the Lagoon, and is known for its lacework and brightly coloured homes.
Great post and beautiful photos 🙂
Thanks! My appreciation goes to you 🙂
Bellissima Burano, con tutti i suoi colori!!!
Infatti! Un luogo più magico che mi piacerebbe tornare a 🙂
Grazie per la visita e il commento è molto apprezzato!
Very nice photos and post! Such colorful and original island…we visited that place before years ago. Thanks for taking me there again.
I’m glad my photos had the power to do just that!

Love the colorful houses by the canal! Lovely photo.
Colors are a very important part of my life, that is why Burano was such a special place to visit.
Glad you enjoyed this series!

Oh, I dream of visiting places like this. Very different than my little corner of the world. Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing!
You know what? Sometimes our own little corner is the one less visited 🙂
We once decided to play tourist in our own place which we did & had a lovely time!
They say that Parisians have seldom gone up the Eiffel tower when the whole world dreams of doing so.
I am sure the inhabitants of Burano find their place quite suffocating too at times because of its limited areas so, the secret is as you say, to take a break from time to time, but maybe it would be a good idea to do so, once we have explored our own treasures 😉
You know, you are absolutely right. Our city is quite beautiful and has a ton to offer. We often take for granted what we have readily available, I guess. I just read a passage in a book that talked about finding beauty in the mundane. That is sort of how I see this – finding the beauty and interest where you are currently.
Beautiful & wise words 🙂
