Treasured encounters –July 1985 adjusted 23.4.2013

This poem was inspired by a very special encounter in my younger age with an older lady and a noble soul.

Treasured encounters
————————–

Precious and valuable
Moments are not always
Seen, felt or appreciated
At the time experienced

Some people we encounter
Open up as hesitantly as
The heavy red velvet drapery
Of an age-old theatre

Revealing the folds of their
Life sparingly with the
Delicacy of a mother bird
Building a nest for her young

Twig by twig for some
Saliva and mud for others
As the patient Barn Swallow
Decorating nature’s scenery

With a lesson of brio and generosity (1)
Those are the brief twinkles
The world offers us as a glimpse
Of its limitlessness and hidden frills

How do we KNOW a moment
Be fully aware of its worth
Feel between our thumb and index
The texture of authenticity and perfection?

Practice and age chisel the tools
Of our wishful transcendence (2)
And when some open hesitantly
The curtains of their inner

Just maybe we will open it
With the thrill of a first
Birthday gift, hide it from
The envious, bring it down

From its niche with veneration
Acknowledge and appraise
The glamour of individuality
Nobility of essence

The validity of confident whispers
The strength needed to remove
The swathes of our souls
And expose the raw artistry

Of treasured encounters.

Susan Cain: The power of introverts: TED TALKS: documentary, lecture, talk

This is a tribute to all the introverts… A reminder to appreciate the hidden genius that comes forth if you accept and love who you are 🙂
I accidentally got on this unique TED show (which I find quite fascinating thanks mostly to the bloggers I follow, who post quite regularly the popular ones.)
I hope you enjoy the depth and philosophical analysis of her speech.
Let me know the impressions it left on you 🙂

Susan Cain: The power of introverts: TED TALKS: documentary, lecture, talk

In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult, even shameful, to be an introvert. But, as Susan Cain argues in this passionate talk, introverts bring extraordinary talents and abilities to the world, and should be encouraged and celebrated.

Our world prizes extroverts — but Susan Cain makes a case for the quiet and contemplative.

The right words Translated from its French original text as “Les mots justes” 6.4.2013

you concoct & complot ©copyright2013owpp

you concoct & complot
©copyright2013owpp

This poem was inspired by a person very dear to my heart

The right words
——————-

Those which do not hurt
Those which do not offend
That leave perplexed
Turns around the index

You try
Unparalleled
And marvel
In the morn

In what narration
Do you plummet
Wonderful troubles
In total oblivion

You concoct
You complot
Cosset
And dither

Great is your laugh
When on the strings you pull
And slip on waxed floor
But what is your aim?

You look for the right words
That on your tongue stumbles
The chicanery of the boors
You smash against the lusters

So, you try again
In the morn
And marvel
At the sun.

Les mots justes
——————-

Ceux qui ne blessent
Ceux qui ne vexent
Qui laisse perplexe
Tournent autour de l’index

Tu essayes
Sans pareil
T’émerveilles
Au réveil

Dans quelle histoire
Tu te laisses choir
Merveilleux déboires
Sans t’en apercevoir

Tu concoctes
Tu complotes
Dorlotes
Et grelottes

Grand est ton rire
Quand sur la ficelle tu tires
Et glisses sur un parquet de cire
Mais quel est ton point de mire?

Tu cherches les mots justes
Qui sur ta langue trébuchent
L’embobinage des rustres
Tu te fracasses contre les lustres

Alors, tu réessayes
Au réveil
Et t’émerveilles
Du soleil.

The reality of who we all are
————————————

Weary is the runner
Who tried it all.
Nothing that can wrench
A smile from her heart
Has she found

Look and search some more
To run away from
The confinement of her reign.
Spent to the bone
Society lifting her up to hegemony (1)

Weary is she, the runner
Who is a slave to her name
Starting off out of ardor
Never for the claim.
Loosing amity along the track

Collecting honorariums
Thrown at her as a redress
To satisfy her hunger
For fusion and empathy
What is given to the many

Oh! She does find it…
Between two laps of breath
Falling into the trap of poise
The opulence of comfort
The warmth of Kith & Kin

Only to be snatched back
To the constant drill.
Why me, does she ask
Were my choices a delusion
The erratum of my own doing (2)

Speculating she is the only
Stooge life has nominated
The quarry that has stumbled
On a boulder that was waft
On the path of earth

She vows to sleep on these
Wise discoveries with hope
Next day would bring
More reflection and ease
To the happy runner

She wants so much to embody
Still unaware of the cheers
And encouragement of peers
That have been forged by
That same mass hurled

At what became their biography
The journal of their gumption (3)
The teachings available on
The benches of what is solid
The reality of who we all are…

A runner.

Last week’s cheapest, easiest pie crust and Viennese strudel update (different flavors…)

Update! ©copyright2013owpp

Update!
©copyright2013owpp

Last week I posted an apple crumble crust cheap and easy which you can look up here… https://oawritingspoemspaintings.wordpress.com/2013/04/15/apple-pie-cheapest-easiest-and-fastest-crust-recipe-with-the-simplest-of-ingredients-obviously-100-natural/

Today, I will give you an update… My different flavors to that dough recipe which I thought was my ingenuity 🙂 but Wikipedia is the correct source of information, so I looked it up there to check if my ideas were just mine and that’s what I came up with…

The best-known strudels are Apfelstrudel (German for apple strudel) and Topfenstrudel (with sweet soft quark cheese, in German Topfen cheese), followed by the Millirahmstrudel (Milk-cream strudel, Milchrahmstrudel). Other strudel types include sour cherry (Weichselstrudel), sweet cherry, nut filled (Nussstrudel), Apricot Strudel, Plum Strudel, poppy seed strudel (Mohnstrudel), and raisin strudel.[7] There are also savory strudels incorporating spinach, cabbage, pumpkin, and sauerkraut,[8] and versions containing meat fillings like the (Lungenstrudel) or (Fleischstrudel).
The only thing that changes is the baking time which goes down to 1 or 1.30 hrs versus the 2 to 2.15 hrs for the apple pie which has a much bigger amount of dough. I nevertheless check in between to make sure it does not over bake.

I put this time on the rolled out dough a different filling of, carob or cacao powder for the nonsensitive, a lot of raisins to get it sweet with less natural sweetener, a big spoon of rice syrup or honey or even sugar for those who use that, in other rolls I will add poppy seeds to all those ingredients…

I have tried all kinds of different nuts with raisins which is just heavenly, but that was about twenty years ago today I find them harder to digest, nevertheless it can occasionally be a good idea. Almond powder can be good too with natural sweetener or sugar.

Some will have cinnamon, raisins, 1 big spoon of rice syrup and a dash of oil…

You can innovate… Be the master of your own creation and risk different flavors or just follow the so many different ideas we got here from Wikipedia 🙂

Good luck with it and most importantly have loads of fun. It’ll taste much better that way. Let me know whatever the outcome is and all the more if it’s a big humoristic flop, the best ideas have been created that way!

The elegance of the giants- With French original text as “L’Ă©lĂ©gance des gĂ©ants”January 1992 adjusted January 2013

the simplicity of the NOW ©copyright2013owpp

the simplicity of the NOW

The elegance of the giants
——————————–

Lost in a nostalgic haze, melancholic…

He immerses in the self and isolates in a pool of
Thoughts, does not hear anymore the hubbub of words.
Flies far, very far in the imaginary of silence.
He lets the seconds, minutes, hours go by, burning

His fingers of a dazing summer, to seek refuge in a
World without sound or a music that would rock off
The brutal reality, the incessant needs of the loves,
The beings surrounding him…those preventing him

From drowning in his memories of felicity seemingly
So insignificant compared to the failures…victories
Passing unnoticed and defeat dressed in all splendor!
The first to be celebrated and the last quickly dismissed.

To go forth in life, victory after another fashioning
A chain of success and boundless serenity.
There, lies the secret of his wellbeing, his mirth.
The simplicity of the NOW.

It is the joy of the countercurrent
The noblesse of the fighter
The wisdom of the conqueror
And the elegance of the giants

L’élégance des géants
————————–
